North Wales PAT testing

Scope In-service electrical equipment includes fixed equipment as well as portable appliances. All portable and fixed electrical equipments should be inspected and tested at intervals. These include equipments such as electric kettles which are portable, and wall-mounted hand driers which are fixed equipment. There are several defined equipment categories but their inspection and testing is often collectively referred to as Portable Appliance Testing or PAT
Requirement for Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) Ever since the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 came into force in 1990 and the Health & Safety at Work Act in 1974, every business has to be electrically safe for use by their staff, customers and the public.
Electrical equipment should be maintained and checked regularly to ensure it is safe and in good repair. In particular, managers (and others, such as landlords) responsible for electrical equipment maintenance should ensure:
• Equipment is maintained in a safe condition
• Information is available to equipment users to ensure safety
• Safe procedures for inspection and testing are used
• Records of inspection and testing are maintained
Electrical-tests is able to undertake inspection and testing of all types of in-service equipments. Our tests and reports are accepted by major insurance companies, health & safety executive and licensing authorities.

Working Together

We will work closely with you to fit in with shut-down periods/ holidays (if required) to reduce any disruption to your workplace and can often combine these tests with inspection and testing of the electrical installation.
Our experience is supported by our continuing membership of the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contractors (NICEIC) as an Approved Contractor since 1998. We are approved PAT and In-service Equipment testers.
The NICEIC Approved Contractor Scheme is accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) to EN 45011 - General requirements for bodies operating product certification systems. Accreditation ensures that the scheme is operated with independence and integrity and that it focuses on quality and safety.

Content

An In-service Equipment Inspection and Test will:
• reveal if any circuits or equipments are being overloaded
• find any potential electrical shock risks and fire hazards in the equipment
• identify any damaged or otherwise defective equipment
• highlight any lack of earthing or bonding or poor insulation
As required each item of equipment will be labelled to clearly indicate PASS or FAIL.
